Accenture IT has confirmed that the data posted to BreachForums yesterday (20 June) by infamous leaker 888 does not match the threat actor’s claims, with the number of employees affected being three rather than over 32,000.

Accenture IT has confirmed that the data posted to BreachForums yesterday (20 June) by infamous leaker 888 does not match the threat actor’s claims, with the number of employees affected being three rather than over 32,000.

Speaking with Defence Connect’s sister brand Cyber Daily, the major IT consulting firm said that following analysis of the data, Accenture discovered only three employee names and emails.

“We are aware of these claims,” Accenture told Cyber Daily.

“We have analysed the dataset published by the threat actor and found only three names and Accenture email addresses, but no other information related to Accenture.”

The company added that based on investigations today, it has not detected any indication of compromise on its systems.

“We continue to investigate,” it said.

Accenture’s statement comes just a day after BreachForums user and leaker 888 claimed to have the data of 32,826 current and former employees.

The threat actor claimed to have the names, email addresses, and “broadcast dates” of these employees.

888 is a prolific leaker and well-known user of BreachForums, having claimed responsibility for a number of high-profile cyber attacks in the past.
