Victorian fibre cabling specialist Fibre Tech Solutions has won a key contract with the Australian Defence Force to build and maintain aerial delivery equipment in a bid to increase safety for aircraft operations.

Based at Avalon Airport, Fibre Tech Solutions provides a range of fibre products, aimed at replacing chain and wire ropes for towing, lifting, binding and dragging clothing.
The firm, which was founded in early 2016, said high strength synthetic fibres were now used across most industries due to their unique properties and performance over steel and wire.
The company targets organisations in the defence, civil, mining and marine industries, as well as the tow and haulage.
Fibre Tech Solutions director Tristan Cross, who made the announcement, said the deal – which will commence later this month – looked set to create “fantastic opportunities” for the state’s supply chain.
However, Cross did emphasise that there remained much to do on the part of local governments, saying also that politics should come last to advanced manufacturing.
“Through these contracts, Fibre Tech will provide engineering support and develop state of the art systems built in Australia for the ADF,” said Cross. “The contract covers [everything] from testing to building lighter equipment for the Seahawk Romeo Helicopters and the C-17 aircraft.”
Cross also said that under the agreement, his company will provide innovative services for aircraft operations for the ADF, “making it safer and faster for the war fighters”.
“Fibre Tech will deliver engineering, maintenance, manufacturing and life cycle support contributing to aviation across Air Force, Navy and Army into the future,” he said.
Cross also said his team had been forging strategic problem solving relationships with both Defence and the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group. He added that he was humbled to see the support from CASG.
According to Cross, the business will seek to participate in the supply chain on upcoming programs, including the SEA 5000 Future Frigate Program and LAND 400.
