Austrian company and international supplier of communication and information systems for control centres Frequentis is looking to secure future defence programs, including elements of AIR 6500.

AIR 6500 is part of a program led by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) to replace Vigilare – an integrated ground-based air defence command and control system for the RAAF – and shape the future of the Australia's air defence.
Managing director of Frequentis Australasia Martin Rampl has spoken of Frequentis' investment in research and development to secure past contracts and said they will continue to utilise their capabilities for future programs like AIR 6500.
"The complexity of secure domain separated voice communications using IP-networks, while providing full functionality across legacy and new systems such as radios, telephony, and analogue/digital networks, should not be underestimated. Frequentis continues to invest substantially in research and development to ensure mission-critical resilience in conjunction with lowest transmission latency and highest voice quality," Rampl said.
Previously, Frequentis has been the chosen supplier for the end-to-end IP-based secure voice communication system iSecCOM for Lockheed Martin Australia's contract to deliver the Tactical Air Defence Radar System (TADRS) communication upgrade project.
This upgrade is now in service for the RAAF, after the Site Acceptance Test (SAT) was successfully conducted in July 2016 at the RAAF's Eastern Regional Operation Centre (EASTROC).
The SAT involved comprehensive utilisation of the RAAF's wider Air Battlespace Management (ABM) systems. The SAT was performed in conjunction with the other ABM systems, Vigilare and the Mobile Regional Operations Centre (MROC) before being immediately sent off on a six-month operational deployment, due to the exceptional performance during the test.
TADRS can conduct radar surveillance, track non-cooperative targets and direct interceptions. It comprises four mobile platforms that can be connected to EASTROC, the Northern Regional Operations Centre (NORTHROC) and MROC.
Frequentis' reputation in the industry, combined with their capabilities, has been spoken of highly by program manager for Lockheed Martin Andrew Van de Ven, who praised Frequentis' efforts on the TADRS program.
"Frequentis is a very professional organisation with innovative project management and when combined with a real understanding of the user's needs delivers an outstanding project," Van de Ven said.
