For the past few weeks, the Royal Australian Air Force and the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) have been working alongside each other at Exercise Ground Effect, allowing the RNZAF to complete vital training for its Hercules aircrews.

The exercise allows C-130H aircrew from New Zealand to conduct tactical airlift training across regional NSW, including low-level flying and airdrop missions.
Based out of RAAF Base Richmond, it provides an opportunity for air movements personnel from both air forces to work alongside one another, and for engagement with the Australian Army’s 176 Air Dispatch Squadron.
RAAF and RNZAF airlift crews often conduct training in each other’s country, providing exposure to new and different environments and allowing them to be ready to work together on operations in the future.
