The fundraising dinner is organised by the embassy of Ukraine in Australia and the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations’ (AFUO) Future Ukraine Foundation, an Australian charity with DGR status, to raise funds for United24, launched by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to raise funds to support the protection and reconstruction of Ukraine.
The evening will feature Jamala, one of Ukraine’s biggest music stars and the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Jamala will be supported by members of the well-known Sydney soul band The Bluesberries.
Ukrainian ambassador to Australia, His Excellency Vasyl Myroshnychenko told Defence Connect, “This fundraiser will provide an opportunity for Australian business to get behind and support the Ukrainian reconstruction effort and help our people prepare for life after the end of hostilities.”
Guests will also be joined by brave Ukrainians, flown especially to Australia, who will provide the audience with eyewitness accounts of life on the frontlines fighting against Russia’s aggression.
Future Ukraine Limited is a DGR-approved company limited by guarantee that was formed on the initiative of the AFUO, the peak body for the Ukrainian diaspora community in Australia.
“The people of Ukraine are immensely grateful for the continuing support of the Australian people as we seek to defend our nation from Russia’s unprovoked aggression. I would encourage interested Australians and businesses to attend this event,” ambassador Myroshnychenko added.
Future Ukraine is complementary to the AFUO’s Ukrainian Crisis Appeal which is directed at providing emergency relief and humanitarian aid to Ukraine and Ukrainians.
