Andrew Seaton has been ANI’s managing director and chief executive officer since 2020. During this period, he has led the organisation through the planning and construction of infrastructure in support of key naval shipbuilding projects.
Seaton brings extensive engineering, financial, commercial, and major project management experience.
Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, the Hon Richard Marles MP, welcomed the announcement, saying, “Mr Seaton’s reappointment comes at a time when ANI has a critical role to play in supporting the government’s defence and national security objectives, including developing infrastructure that will be essential for Australia’s nuclear-powered submarine program.”
Seaton’s reappointment will ensure continuity of leadership during an important time in which ANI will deliver critical shipbuilding infrastructure, including designing and building the future nuclear-powered submarine construction yard at Osborne, South Australia.
Finance Minister, Senator the Hon Katy Gallagher added, “Andrew Seaton has led ANI through the planning and construction of key shipbuilding infrastructure. Mr Seaton has extensive experience and is well suited to lead ANI’s current and future business activities.”
The government congratulated Seaton on his reappointment and look forward to continuing to work with him and the ANI team to deliver on the Australian government’s defence and national security objectives.
Established in 2017, the Australian Naval Infrastructure (ANI) is a government business enterprise, with the organisation’s joint shareholders the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Defence.
ANI’s primary objective is to support the Commonwealth’s continuous naval shipbuilding program by being the owner, developer, and manager of infrastructure and related facilities.
Additionally, ANI is also tasked with providing access and efficiently and effectively managing the infrastructure to ensure an integrated and coordinated approach to delivery of all aspects of the shipbuilding program. ANI has focused on fulfilling these functions through the expansion and modernisation of the Osborne Naval Shipyard into a world-class shipbuilding precinct, capable of supporting the Commonwealth government's ambitious naval shipbuilding and nuclear-powered submarine building agenda, along with the continued operation and maintenance of common use infrastructure.
