“The Australian Defence Industry Awards is our opportunity to recognise those professionals and businesses who have excelled in the last year, and made Australia a safer and more prosperous nation,” Liam Garman, editor of Defence Connect said.
“I warmly congratulate all those who have been shortlisted as finalists and look forward to seeing you all on 21 September to celebrate your accomplishments!”
Other players contesting for the awards include executives, female and Indigenous leaders, technicians, and the rising stars of tomorrow.
The highest scoring individual winner will become the recipient of the prestigious Excellence Award at the 2023 Australian Defence Industry Awards.
In 2022, this award was given to Sue Scott, systems engineer at engineering solutions company Nova Systems, after she was named Engineer and Technician of the Year earlier in the evening.
There were 10 individual categories on offer for award entrants in 2023, including Academic of the Year, Consultant of the Year, and Technician of the Year, along with 19 group categories (including Aerospace Business of the Year, AIC Champion of the Year, and Veteran Support Program of the Year).
The Australian Defence Industry Awards is an unparalleled program that identifies the top businesses and professionals in the defence industry across Australia.
The awards provide national recognition to people and businesses rather than products, while universally acknowledging all defence industry stakeholders.
These include primes, small-to-medium enterprises (SME), academic institutions, and associations, as well as individuals such as defence executives, Indigenous and female leaders, students, scientists, technicians, and academics.
Winning an award will help organisations distinguish themselves from their competitors when attracting and retaining talent, while strengthening their position to win defence projects or contracts. For individuals, recognition will underpin career advancement.
The awards are judged by a well-respected panel of experts including former senior Australian Defence Force leaders, academics, business executives, entrepreneurs, and innovators.
They provide peer-reviewed recognition of your capabilities in defence and your passion for propelling the industry forward and strengthening Australia’s national security.
The awards were open to all businesses operating in Australia supporting the defence supply chain and have become a coveted accolade for businesses and professionals.
