HighCom, a subsidy of defence industry organisation XTEK Group, will supply the high-end ballistic body armour products to an undisclosed international customer, according to the announcement made on 20 November.
The XTEK Group is comprised of XTEK Limited and its wholly owned US subsidiary HighCom Armor Inc and operates as two separate ballistics and technology divisions.
“XTEK’s global armour business, HighCom, continues to win material new orders from militaries, law enforcement, and first responder customers all around the world, for its ultra-lightweight and high-performance specialist ballistic armour products and solutions,” according to XTEK Group chief executive officer Scott Basham.
“This order, from an undisclosed international customer, which is valued at AU$2.8 million, is a testament to the hard work and professionalism of our US and international teams, who continue to be highly engaged with customers in global hotspots who are seeking to rapidly acquire large quantities of advanced high-end body armour.
“The many thousands of individual items included in this order will be shipped to the end user in multiple batches, with the first coming initially from inventory, and then the remainder being produced over the coming weeks.”
The company is currently seeking shareholder approval to change its ASX listed entity name to HighCom Limited, as well as it’s ballistics division to “HighCom Armor” and its technology division to “HighCom Technology”.
The new HighCom Armor will manufacture and supply global military, law enforcement, and first responder clients with body armour, ballistic helmets, composite armour panels, and platform structures.
HighCom Technology will supply Australian defence and security agencies with small uncrewed aerial systems and sensor payloads, local systems integration, maintenance and logistics support services.
Earlier this month, XTEK announced a new $4.1 million small uncrewed aerial systems spare parts order had been received from the Commonwealth of Australia’s Department of Defence.
That order is in support of the $26.9 million new drone fleet order, previously announced on 1 December 2022.
“XTEK is very pleased to be able to continue to provide the Department of Defence with our high-end sustainment support services,” Basham said.
“This latest spare parts order, which is the first received that is related to the new multi-year support contract we announced on 3 October 2023, for Defence’s new mixed fleet of AeroVironment SUAS we announced on 1 December 2022, ensures that our team of engineers, technicians, and logistics support specialists, can provide all of the necessary support required for this new capability going forward.”
