A 30-year insurance and banking expert has been appointed as chief executive officer of Defence Bank.

Roberto Scenna has been appointed chief executive officer of Defence Bank, after nine years as CEO of Catholic Church Insurance.
He will commence his role on 15 July.
Scenna has previously served at ANZ Bank as managing director of private banking and CEO of ANZ Trustees.
Defence Bank is one of Australia’s larger member-owned banks, serving the Australian Defence Force and Commonwealth employees.
Defence Bank chair Bruce Murphy welcomed the appointment, acknowledging Marnie Fletcher who most recently served as acting CEO.
“We are delighted to secure someone of Roberto’s calibre to lead Defence Bank,” Murphy said.
“Roberto brings a wealth of experience and a results-driven member focus to the bank.
“Roberto not only has a strong pedigree in banking but a genuine commitment to people, building relationships, and delivering outstanding member outcomes.
“Defence Bank has a wonderful future, and we are excited about Roberto’s stewardship and the impact he will have for Australia’s leading bank representing the defence community.
“We look forward to welcoming Roberto next month.
“I would also like to acknowledge and thank Marnie Fletcher for the dedication and commitment she has shown as acting CEO over the last four months, ensuring the bank is in a very strong position when Roberto commences.”
Scenna reflected on the importance of the bank serving its members: “I am deeply honoured by the faith Defence Bank has shown in me through this appointment.
