International defence companies Saildrone, Hanwha Group, Airbus and Tata Group have landed a coveted spot in TIME magazine’s Global 100 Most Influential Companies of 2024.

The fourth edition of the list, created annually by TIME editors and correspondents, recognises 100 of the world’s most influential companies across big and small industries and multiple sectors.
The list is split into titans, leaders, disrupters, innovators and pioneers of the commercial world.
“TIME100 Companies is more than an index of business success. It is an argument for what business influence looks like in 2024. At a time when leadership in other sectors is battered, surveys suggest that many look to corporate leaders first for direction,” the magazine said for its release earlier this week.
California-based drone manufacturer Saildrone was named for producing its wind and solar powered unmanned surface vehicles which can reportedly stay unattended for up to a year; and have also received interest from US law enforcement and US military representatives.
In addition, Saildrone has recently partnered with Seabed 2030, a project to map the entire ocean floor for climate modelling, tsunami forecasting, and cable and pipeline routing.
Described by TIME as the ‘the Lockheed Martin of Asia’, South Korea’s Hanwha Group was honoured by the magazine for a solid market value increase of 69 percent in 2023 and multibillion dollar deals with Poland for military equipment. It was also congratulated on receiving approval from the American Bureau of Shipping for the world’s first large-scale, carbon-emission-free liquefied natural gas carrier.
India’s Tata Group, which includes a vast portfolio in defence, steel, software, watches, cables, chemicals, fashion and even hotels, was listed for its significant investment into technology, manufacturing, artificial intelligence and semiconductor chips. Tata has reportedly reached a combined market capitalization of $365 billion.
European multinational aerospace corporation Airbus also rated a mention on the list with jet orders for 2023 earning a record revenue of around US$71 billion, an 11 percent increase on the previous year, according to TIME.
The military aircraft manufacturer recently announced a new Wingman concept model would be put on display in Berlin at the International Aerospace Exhibition ILA from 5 to 9 June. The Wingman model will reportedly showcase all of the foreseen capabilities required, such as low observability, the integration of various armaments, advanced sensors, connectivity and teaming solutions.
In the other sectors of world of aviation, United Airlines, Tomorrow.io, LanzaJet and others also received awards on the list.
