Export Controls Australia Group has partnered with the Australian Industry & Defence Network to help Australian defence SMEs navigate export controls and foster growth.

Export Controls Australia Group has partnered with the Australian Industry & Defence Network to help Australian defence SMEs navigate export controls and foster growth.

Spokespeople have announced that the recent partnership (13 June) will “empower SMEs” in the defence industry through advocacy, information, and collaboration opportunities.

Support will include providing the knowledge needed for Australian small-to-medium sized businesses to navigate the challenging export controls with tailored support. The two industry bodies hope that the partnership will enable compliance with international standards and drive the export potential of Australian businesses.

The partnership between the two industry bodies also hopes to improve advocacy knowledge sharing of how regulatory changes will impact businesses, with the delivery of workshops, seminars, and forums.

Launched in February, the not-for-profit and membership-based ECAG was founded to help defence industry stakeholders navigate export controls and provide a unified voice to government and international partners to ensure a simplified approach to export controls.

The partnership will help Australian defence businesses overcome current hurdles and leverage future opportunities, Jessia Rankin, chief executive officer of ECAG, said.

“Together with AIDN, we are dedicated to building a resilient and innovative Defence sector that not only meets the current challenges but is also prepared for the opportunities of tomorrow.”

The partnership will provide critical support to industry, Brent Clark, chief executive officer of AIDN, said.

“Our partnership with ECAG is an important step for the membership of AIDN; ECAG is working closely with Defence on the issue of export controls and are the premier organisation on this issue, working closely together, I believe we will provide our defence industry with the best possible and advice in dealing in this complex area.”
