Defence Connect is pleased to announce that Chris Deeble AO CSC, Deputy Secretary of Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group will be joining Minister for Defence Industry and Capability Delivery, the Hon Pat Conroy MP at the Defence Connect DIDS Summit to be held at the Fullerton Hotel in Sydney, on Tuesday 6 August.
Liam Garman, Editor of Defence Connect welcomed this latest announcement, saying, "We are delighted to have Mr Deeble joining the DIDS Summit alongside Minister Conroy, Chief Defence Scientist Tanya Monro, and Professor Hilder to provide investment clarity and confidence as the defence sector continues on its path of growth and transformation."
This special, whole day event will provide an unmissable opportunity for defence industry to engage with the key policy and decision makers responsible for shaping the delivery of key warfighting capabilities as part of the Government's Defence Industry Development Strategy.
Mr Deeble is expected to focus on a range of changes outlined in the Defence Industry Development Strategy, including the implementation of the strategy and the impact on each of the Sovereign Defence Industrial Priorities (SDIPS) outlined in the Defence Industry Development Strategy which include:
- Maintenance, repair, overhaul and upgrade of Australian Defence Force aircraft;
- Continuous naval shipbuilding and sustainment;
- Sustainment and enhancement of the combined-arms land system;
- Domestic manufacture of guided weapons, explosive ordnance and munitions;
- Development and integration of autonomous systems;
- Integration and enhancement of battlespace awareness and management systems; and
- Test and evaluation, certification and systems assurance.
Mr Garman added, "The release of the new sovereign defence industrial priorities represents the opportunity for renewed focus on innovation in the industry, ensuring that our defence businesses are investing in those capabilities and emerging technologies that matter most for our soldiers, sailors and aviators."
