Babcock Australasia has appointed an aviation industry veteran to oversee the company’s aviation and critical services offerings for Australia and New Zealand.

Duncan Milne has been appointed as Babcock Australasia’s managing director aviation and critical services, after two decades working in senior leadership roles across aviation and defence industry.
He comes into the role having overseen regional growth opportunities for the company’s land, marine and air divisions and is a board member for the Defence Teaming Centre.
Milne was recently operations director at ALARP Solutions and general manager and vice-president at Cobham Aviation Services, Helicopter Services.
He will now oversee the expansion of the company’s aviation and critical services offerings.
“Duncan’s appointment strengthens our commitment to delivering outstanding service to our customers and the communities we serve across Australia and New Zealand,” Babcock Australasia chief executive officer Andrew Cridland said.
“Duncan has exceptional knowledge of our customers’ operational requirements, having served in a number for critical roles with Babcock for three and a half years.
“He knows the Babcock business and our stakeholders well and has a unique ability to identify opportunities and areas of advancement for both our customers and our business.”
Milne has worked for Babcock since 2021.
Babcock is the largest aeromedical service provider in Australia, with 18 helicopters and 500 staff operating from eight bases across the country. The company works with the Australian Border Force, State Rescue Helicopter Service in South Australia, Queensland Health, and Ambulance Victoria.
Milne added: “Aviation has been a longtime passion of mine. I look forward to continuing to deliver for our customers and leading our highly professional and dedicated teams in Australia and New Zealand, who deliver critical services in some of the most remote and challenging environments across Australasia.”
The announcement comes just months after the company was awarded a five-year contract extension with Ambulance Victoria to provide air ambulance operations, in a deal valued at $370 million.
Babcock had been delivering the capability since 2016, with the recent contract extending the partnership through to the end of 2030.
It is hoped that the recent award will help paramedics deliver the best care to patients across the state.
