“A Defence Infrastructure Panel will enable accelerated delivery of the National Defence Strategy priorities and produce closer industry collaboration. This panel will also comply with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules and generate value for money outcomes,” according to the AusTender documents.

“The panel will require contractors with demonstrated capabilities, skills, qualifications, depth of resources and experience to deliver major construction and capital facilities works to Commonwealth projects and locations within Australia on an ‘as-needs’ basis.

“The panel is being established to support the efficient procurement and delivery of projects valued at or above $200 million. The tender documents will detail the types of works that may be sought from contractors under the panel.”

Defence is anticipating ongoing and significant requirement for the delivery of major construction projects to support the Commonwealth’s defence capability and sustainment requirements following the release of the 2023 Defence Strategic Review, the 2024 National Defence Strategy, and the 2024 Integrated Investment Program.

Successful tenderers are anticipated to be appointed to the panel in February 2025. The initial term of the panel ends five years after commencement of the term and is subject to the Commonwealth exercising options to extend for up to a further three additional years.
