The company’s new business unit, simulation and training solutions, aims to provide the Australian Defence Force and international customers with advanced immersive military training and simulation solutions.
The new simulation and training solutions business unit is already working with the Australian Department of Defence and a range of international defence original equipment manufacturers (OEM) to create new advanced simulation solutions focused on enhancing the skills and competence of soldiers, sailors and aviators while reducing the requirement for expensive live training exercises.
With multiple contracts already in hand, including a prime contract to deliver the Australian Army’s M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams Immersive Tactical Training Systems, and the ability to draw on Thomas Global’s 65-year pedigree in high-integrity aviation and defence electronics, the new business unit is forecast to grow rapidly, creating more high-value engineering jobs in Australia.
“The creation of our simulation and training solutions division marks a significant milestone for our business,” Thomas Global Systems chief executive Angus Hutchinson said.
“By establishing this dedicated business unit based in Australia, we aim to deepen our support for the ADF by delivering the most innovative, capable and affordable training solutions to address evolving capability needs. Our recent contract wins highlight the critical need for enhanced simulation capabilities, and we are laser-focused on helping the ADF meet its simulation challenges.”
“Our sovereign simulation technology demonstrates that Australian industry has the capability and capacity to develop homegrown solutions focused on delivering a technology and operational advantage to Defence.”
Headed by Michael Hall as vice-president and general manager, the new business unit today has a team of more than 50 dedicated personnel specialising in cutting-edge simulation and training technologies covering design, engineering, production and support. Hall, who joined Thomas Global Systems in 2022 as director of business development, brings extensive industry experience from the Australian Army and defence industry. At Thomas Global Systems, he has successfully overseen the military market business development across Australia and the United States.
