The third annual Australian Defence Industry Report has launched, inviting Australian SMEs to review the performance of major defence contractors over the past year.

The Australian Defence Industry Report, conducted by Agile Market Intelligence in partnership with Defence Connect, is a comprehensive survey that asks small and medium-sized businesses operating within the defence industry to evaluate the performance of large defence contractors they have collaborated with over the last 12 months.
Participants are asked to assess contractor performance across 12 attributes that cover the contractor’s offering to the defence sector. These attributes explore areas such as tenders, contacts and commercials, relationships and engagement, growth, training and support.
The results of the survey will be used to compile the Australian Defence Industry Report 2024, a valuable diagnostic tool that identifies performance gaps, quality trends, and constructive feedback from Australian SMEs. The report aims to help large defence contractors understand their strengths and weaknesses and provides them with an opportunity to review and refine their offerings for the defence sector.
Respondents have until Thursday, 31 October 2024, to complete the survey.
Oliver Stofka, commercial director at Agile Market Intelligence, emphasised the importance of the survey in providing detailed feedback to defence contractors and highlighted the value of this data in driving positive change.
“The Australian Defence Industry Report provides a fantastic opportunity for large defence contractors across Australia to understand how SMEs perceive and rate their capabilities and services. This helps them shape and refine their engagement strategies and offerings for the next 12 months and beyond,” he said.
“This survey is a chance for SMEs to communicate their experiences directly to decision makers at large defence contractors, enabling them to enhance their collaboration and service to the Australian defence sector.”
At the conclusion of the survey, respondents will have the chance to enter a prize draw for one of two $500 Visa gift cards in recognition of their participation in this critical industry initiative.
The key findings of the Australian Defence Industry Report 2024 will also be published in Defence Connect to share high level findings with the industry.
