Nova Systems has announced a new partnership with the Latrobe Aerospace Technology Precinct to push the boundaries of innovation in advanced defence and dual-use technologies.

This collaboration allows Nova Systems to safely test a range of advanced drone technologies in field – developing new capabilities for use by the Australian Defence Force and the private sector while promoting regional development.

Driven in large part by the accelerating proliferation of autonomous and unmanned systems, particularly following their battlefield success in Ukraine and the Middle East, this partnership provides a critical, in-country capacity to conduct vital test and evaluation of novel and advanced aerospace technologies.

Nova Systems CEO Dean Rosenfield said, “As a leading provider of test and evaluation services, the Latrobe precinct gives us access to state-of-the-art flight test facilities and airspace to safely test drones on an operational aerodrome.”

Unpacking this further, Rosenfield added, “We can then use that data to accelerate innovation in our digital testing capabilities. For example, we are developing and testing artificial intelligence algorithms to detect and differentiate objects on the ground.”

The success of this collaboration wouldn’t be possible without the partnership of the Latrobe City Council and its ongoing support for the Latrobe Aerospace Technology Precinct.

Rosenfield thanked Latrobe City Council for their continued support, saying, “We’re grateful to work closely with Latrobe City Council. This collaboration ensures we lead the way in autonomous technology innovation, enhancing safety and efficiency in drone operations.”

The importance of this industry leading-collaboration and the opportunities it provides to Latrobe region is expanded upon by Mayor of Latrobe City Council, Cr Dale Harriman, who said, “This partnership at the Latrobe Aerospace Technology Precinct supports the diversification of industry in our region, growing future employment opportunities and strengthens the local economy. We are thankful to Nova Systems for their consideration and investment.”

Nova Systems is a hundred per cent Australian-owned and controlled engineering services and technology solutions company.
