A number of “unplanned” service incidents have been reported across UniSA’s ICT network, including a disruption to the staff’s email communications.

The University of South Australia has reported several “unplanned service interruptions”, one of which has temporarily disabled its staff email system.
“Please be advised that the university is currently experiencing an outage of its staff email system and we are not receiving or sending emails presently,” UniSA told students.
UniSA confirmed that the issue has been identified, with a fix in the process of being implemented.
However, UniSA is still investigating a number of other incidents, including a disruption to student applications and staff desktop computer access.
“The university suffered a security incident over the weekend. As a security precaution a number of PCs and laptops have been disabled,” UniSA informed students.
“Campus IT staff are picking up infected PCs so they can be cleaned.”
The university’s vice-chancellor, David Lloyd, stressed that sensitive information was not compromised by the attack.
“We believe the issue has been contained, with no data breaches identified,” he told The Advertiser.
“The university has notified the relevant authorities. We are working to restore affected systems as soon as possible, but unfortunately, it is quite likely that staff email will be impacted for the next few days.
“I am very grateful to our information technology team for their diligence and hard work to remedy this matter and also want to thank all concerned for their patience as we work through this inconvenience.”
