Defence and technology company Leidos Australia has committed to a five-year sponsorship deal with Bravery Trust, a group providing assistance to those who have suffered an injury or illness as a result of their service and who are experiencing hardship.
Bravery Trust was created in 2012 by veterans and has so far assisted more than 2,200 veterans and their families through providing over $2.14 million in financial assistance with over $1.1 million in the last year alone. The group has four patrons, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), Admiral Chris Barrie AC, RAN (Retd), Air Chief Marshal Sir Angus Houston AK, AFC (Retd) and His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd).
Bravery Trust's CEO Sean Farrell said he believes the combination of the veteran support group and the defence business company will make for a successful pairing.
"Leidos Australia is Bravery Trust’s major industry partner, and we are thrilled to have them on board," said Farrell.
"While they are focused on supporting the business of defence and government, we are focused on supporting veterans and their families. I think we have a great match here and I look forward to working with the Leidos Australia team."
Managing director of Leidos Australia Christine Zeitz also echoed these sentiments.
"We are delighted to be partnering with Bravery Trust. We see lots of synergies between our organisations. Like Bravery Trust, Leidos Australia is a young organisation, having been operational in Australia since 2013," Zeitz stated.
"Our business is all about our people. We have a growing team of over 1,000 people and I know they are really looking forward to getting behind the great work Bravery Trust does in supporting our veterans and their families."
Leidos Australia intends to run and support a program of events throughout the year to support fundraising for the Bravery Trust, as well as volunteering activities.
The company is engaged with various customers, like the Australian Taxation Office, but is also defence and health focused. Earlier this year, the company announced it is planning to submit a response for Phase 3 of the Joint Project 2060 (JP 2060) being led by the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) with the Department of Defence (DoD).
