L3 Technologies has brought together three of its business arms with the opening of its new facility in Queensland.

L3 Micreo, a division of L3 Technologies and specialist in electronic countermeasure (ECM) equipment, opened its new facility next to its current site in Eight Mile Plains, Brisbane, last week.
The new facility will be utilised by L3 Micreo, L3 Oceania, which is a leading provider of maritime systems and solutions, and L3 Insight Technology, which specialises in the development and production of advanced night vision and electro-optical technology.
Development work on the facility began earlier this year and production commenced in June, with the first project being the fulfilment of L3's REDWING contract for the Australian Department of Defence (DoD). The REDWING project will provide protection from improvised explosive devices for soldiers and security forces via GREENGUM, a handheld device for dismounted forces, and GREYGUM, a vehicle mounted device.
Advocate for defence and Queensland industry Andrew Wallace, federal member for Fisher, officially opened the new facility. Wallace is leading the Sunshine Coast Defence Industry Initiative and serves on the government backbench committee for defence and veteran’s affairs.
Wallace spoke of his recent trip to Afghanistan where he visited serving ADF personnel and learnt about all aspects of their equipment in theatre, where he was able to experience the importance of ECM equipment in the ADF.
L3 Micreo's general manager Sarah Earey said the opening of the new facility signified the growth the company is experiencing since being acquired by L3 last year.
"This is a significant period of growth for us," said Earey.
"Our acquisition by L3 last year has enabled us to join forces with other L3 divisions to provide market-leading force protection systems."
