Established in 2021, the Edinburgh Aerospace Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Enterprise was designed to create an integrated industry base to support the Australian Defence Force’s P-8A Poseidon, MC-5 Peregrine and MQ-4 Triton capabilities.
The recent agreement between Airbus Australia Pacific and Defence will form an integrated workforce with representatives from a range of prime contractors under a common provider of niche trades. The workforce is expected to enable the industry to better meet Defence’s trade requirements.
Defence has confirmed that the deed can be expanded to provide further common services for the Poseidon, Peregrine and Triton.
According to Air Commodore Jason Agius, director general, aerospace surveillance and response, the workforce would enable better economies of scale.
“The Edinburgh ISR precinct is home to some of the most advanced airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platforms in the world,” Air Commodore Agius said.
“This Deed signed with Airbus Australia Pacific today will enable more efficient support for our Air Force ISR fleets in South Australia and encourage further integration between our industry partners.
“This initiative provides a framework to increase the efficiency of a workforce to support multiple small fleets of aircraft and provides a basis for the extension of support to additional platforms if required.”
