The consultancy firm has committed to supporting veteran employment through a partnership with Soldier On.

Cushman & Wakefield Australia has become a Gold Pledge Partner of Soldier On, committing to leveraging its resources to support veteran employment.

The company works with the Department of Defence’s Security and Estate Group, providing National Program Services (NPS) since 2014 alongside the Project Delivery Service and Estate Maintenance Operation Services.

The work involves managing and delivering maintenance, refurbishment and sustainment projects on the Defence estate in support of the Australian Defence Force and Defence public servants.

Mitch Wilson, Cushman & Wakefield’s head of project and development services Australia and New Zealand, signed the pledge with Soldier On’s interim CEO, Prue Slaughter.

“Cushman & Wakefield is pleased to take the pledge and become a Gold Pledge Partner with Soldier On,” he said.

“Our people have worked with Defence for many years now and see the value that serving members and their families make to the nation every day — and that service doesn’t end when the uniform comes off, it simply transforms.”

Wilson said the company aims to build on its work to support the veteran community, following on from the launch of its Military and Veterans Program (MVP) last year.

“We employ a number of veterans and partners of serving members across the business, and so we know from experience the skill, insight, and dedication that they bring to the company, and we look forward to engaging more ex-service people to draw on their skills and expertise to deliver for our clients,” he said.

Slaughter welcomed Cushman & Wakefield’s commitment.

“As Soldier On continues to grow, we are able to expand our services such as The Pathways Program to enable more veterans and their families to thrive, by providing more opportunities of education and employment,” she said.

“By signing the pledge, Cushman & Wakefield is not only committing to support veterans throughout the recruitment stage, but to also maintain a veteran supportive approach to its workplace in all aspects of retention, culture, and opportunities within its teams.”

This latest pledge comes just days after Serco Australia formalised its partnership with Soldier On at a pledge signing ceremony.

Serco’s pledge involves a commitment to support veteran and reservist employment across Australia.
