Talent acquisition manager Rebecca Macdonald from Ventia’s specialist recruitment arm, Skout Solutions, visited the Avalon Airshow this week to discuss employment opportunities with the Australia-wide company, supported by representatives from the company’s four key sectors: transport, telecommunications, defence and social infrastructure.
Skout Solutions, a joint venture between Ventia and Randstad, provides talent solutions across the contract management and trades and services industries.
“My team really takes pride in the essential service roles we recruit for Ventia to support the Australian Defence Force,” Macdonald said.
“Roles are so varied, and range from hospitality and catering on defence bases to project management or asset management roles, to mechanics and other trades. We even have lifeguards in the team!”
The contractor works across Defence Base Services, Defence Maintenance & Support Services, National Clothing Store Services, Defence Retail Services and LAND 8120.
Macdonald’s team engaged with prospective team members during the week at Avalon over roles at the company.
“We know that Ventia provides interested candidates with exceptional growth and development opportunities due to the ability to work across multiple contracts and disciplines,” Macdonald explained.
“Ventia provides training and development and the ability to allow employees to launch or further develop their career. It’s the opportunity to have a long and rewarding career that is interesting, challenging and meaningful providing essential services to the Australian Defence Force.”
In January, it was revealed that Ventia had been awarded a contract to support Babcock Australasia in delivering upgrades to the ADF’s Defence High Frequency Communications System (DHFCS).
This $64 million contract will see Ventia support Babcock and Defence under the JP 9101 – Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System (EDHFCS) program, which will provide Australian and allied armed forces with the ability to securely communicate using voice and data from almost any location across the globe.
Mark Ralston, Ventia’s group executive for telecommunications, said the company was pleased to be working with Babcock on this strategically important Defence project, saying, “Ventia’s strategy is to redefine service excellence by being client-focused, innovative and sustainable. Our expert capabilities and proven telecommunications experience support Babcock’s strategy and vision in providing secure, robust communications that are resilient and interoperable.”
Ventia’s scope includes groundworks, installation of new antennas and other contractor-furnished equipment, along with internal shelter works. The company has more than 25 years of telecommunications experience in Australia and a 30+ year relationship with the ADF.
