The Centre for Defence Industry Capability (CDIC) has been officially launched in Adelaide.

The aim of the centre is to enhance the way in which Defence engages with the industry and is a major milestone in implementing the Defence Industry Policy Statement.
“The opening of the CDIC is a significant step in resetting the Defence and industry relationship and driving jobs and growth across the country,” said the Minister for Defence Industry Christopher Pyne.
The Centre will be funded by a $230 million allocation from government over the next decade and will offer assistance and practical advice for businesses wanting to work with Defence.
“I encourage all Australian businesses who want to work with Defence to visit the CDIC website at business.gov.au/cdic to seek advice from a business adviser,” Minister Pyne said.
Industry will have access to professional business advisers who will provide guidance on:
• Business improvement;
• Skills development;
• Export and supply chains;
• Supplier continuous improvement;
• Defence market preparedness; and
• Defence innovation proposal submission.
In conjunction with the launch of CDIC, the Defence Innovation Hub has also been launched to help champion innovation in defence.
Aimed at supporting innovation and identifying new capabilities from prime defence contractors as well as academia, SMEs and researchers, the hub will invest around $640 million over the coming decade to develop emerging technologies.
