Babcock Australasia has announced a $37 million, three-year contract extension with the Commonwealth of Australia to provide cutting-edge counter-chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) capabilities.

The new three-year contract extension of approximately $37 million supports 132 different types of counter-CBRNE equipment, including explosive ordnance disposal equipment, unmanned ground vehicles and chemical detection systems.
Babcock Australasia managing director for mission and support systems Richard Udall welcomed the contract extension, saying: “As a proven and trusted partner to the Commonwealth, Babcock is proud to continue our work in this critical area.”
Since 2019, Babcock has created almost 40 jobs and engaged 52 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to support the delivery of the service to Defence.
“National security has never been more important or more complex to deliver. Our service men and women put their lives on the line for our nation – they deserve the very best, cutting-edge technology and equipment to support them to do their job, and Babcock is built for that task,” Udall added.
Babcock supports Defence in managing existing and acquiring new counter-CBRNE capability, including equipment acquisitions, maintenance and repairs. Babcock also supports Defence to identify new C-CBRNE technology.
