Australian-based xReality has been awarded a AU$5.6 million contract to deliver a new immersive training capability for the US Department of Defense.

Australian-based xReality has been awarded a AU$5.6 million contract to deliver a new immersive training capability for the US Department of Defense.

The project represents the first sale of xReality Group’s (XRG) Operator XR immersive training systems to a US federal government customer.

Operator XR systems specialise in providing uniquely integrated, secure and highly immersive virtual reality (VR) military simulation and police training systems that enhance human performance in high-risk situations.

Wayne Jones, CEO of XRG, said, “The strategic importance of this project cannot be understated, representing Operator XR’s first major engagement with the US Department of Defence.”

Operator XR is easy to use and offers augmented reality (AR) to simulate real-world scenarios that can be customised to the unique requirements of military and law enforcement agencies.

Operator XR’s immersive training systems will be delivered across a period of 20 months starting 11 September 2024, with the contract including pathways for follow-on work within the Department of Defense and broader US government agencies.

"Operator XR will be jointly developing a cutting-edge capability that has the potential to expand into further global agencies as well as the many operational units within the US Defence Force,” Jones said.

This latest contract comes following a number of recent success stories for the company, including new contracts valued at $1.93 million in May, followed by $1.43 million in June, and the addition of 18 new customers across the two months, including 15 individual agencies in the US.

As well as the announcement of an $809,000 contract with an Australian government customer, commencing July 2024, there is a second contract with the Australian Defence Force for the delivery of two systems with a three-year licence (unrelated to the ongoing trial associated with the ADF’s first order).

xReality Group Limited is a leader in enterprise software development for mission critical simulations for military and law enforcement. The company develops and operates physical and digital simulations.

Portfolio companies include indoor skydiving facilities, VR and AR entertainment, training, and production.
