This extension continues support for the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force deployed nodes which KBR has provided since 2021.
Deployed ICT network environments provide essential command, control, situational awareness and allied/partner interoperability services for ADF personnel serving on deployed operations and exercises and includes troops in the field, ships at sea and joint headquarters and support bases deployed domestically, regionally and across the globe.
KBR vice-president GS APAC Nic Maan welcomed this contract extension, saying, “KBR is delivering across a range of critical, highly specialised and technical programs that are strengthening the nation’s defence and security.”
The contract also includes ongoing sustainment and support to the navy through the Fleet Information System or “MINERVA” being delivered by SEA 2273.
This latest contract extension builds on the company’s almost seven decades of experience delivering some of the most complex projects for the nation. This year, the company:
- Achieved the target operation date for the capability life cycle management of the RAN’s amphibious and replenishment ship fleet.
- Has been selected as a concept design partner for South Australia’s new Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard, leading the area of the yard that will be used for steel processing and fabrication.
- Is performing a critical technical role supporting Triton’s operations in Australia.
Maan added, “This builds on the company’s strong performance in delivering ICT hardware, software, sustainment and specialist communication services to Defence. “
Supporting the ADF’s deployed platforms presents a unique information management challenge and requires computer networks that can remain effective even in low bandwidth or congested communications environments.
KBR employs approximately 37,000 people worldwide with customers in more than 80 countries and operations in over 30 countries.
