Rheinmetall, Bohemia Interactive Simulations announce partnership to enhance military simulation tech

Rheinmetall and BAE-owned Bohemia Interactive Simulations announce strategic partnership to advance defence simulation technologies to enhance warfighter preparedness and capability.

Rheinmetall and BAE-owned Bohemia Interactive Simulations announce strategic partnership to advance defence simulation technologies to enhance warfighter preparedness and capability.

Rheinmetall, a leader in defence and security technologies, and Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim), a wholly owned subsidiary of BAE Systems and renowned provider of advanced simulation and training software solutions, have announced a new strategic partnership.

This collaboration aims to drive the development of innovative simulation solutions critical for modern combat training.

The partnership will debut with the “Heavy Weapons Carrier” project, which involves creating cutting-edge gunnery and combat simulators for training the German Army’s Medium Forces.

Bartek Panasewicz, head of system technology training systems at Rheinmetall, explained the importance of this partnership, saying, “This collaboration is an important step for Rheinmetall in further expanding our portfolio of training and simulation solutions. With the state-of-the-art software from Bohemia Interactive Simulations, we are able to offer our customers even more realistic and effectively customised solutions.”

This will be achieved by integrating BISim’s VBS4 and Blue IG products with Rheinmetall’s expertise in military systems.

As military training demands grow increasingly complex, realistic and adaptable simulation technologies are essential. By combining BISim’s specialised simulation capabilities with Rheinmetall’s deep knowledge of defence systems, the collaboration promises to deliver a new benchmark in training and simulation technologies.

Rahul Thakkar, president of BISim, added, “BISim’s technology empowers the warfighter to operate with machine-like speed and unmatched confidence to enable decision dominance on the battlefield.”

BISim’s advanced platforms enable system integrators to address the challenges of simulation and mission planning. Trusted by NATO, the US military, the German Bundeswehr, and other allied forces, BISim’s flexible products empower Rheinmetall to create sophisticated simulators for a range of military vehicles, ensuring highly realistic and effective training for personnel.

“This strategic partnership with Rheinmetall gives customers the overmatch they need every time. As a team, we are pushing the limits of synthetic training with simulators, raising the bar on the quality and scale of the experience delivered to our customers,” Thakkar said.

This strategic partnership underscores both companies’ commitment to enhancing the performance and effectiveness of modern simulation technologies. Defence customers globally can look forward to innovative, practical solutions tailored to the demands of current and future combat environments, equipping forces with the tools to achieve operational readiness and a decisive edge on the battlefield.

Founded in 2001, BISim, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BAE Systems, is a global software company at the forefront of simulation and training solutions for defence and civilian organisations.

Globally, hundreds of thousands of military personnel are trained every year using BISim’s high-fidelity VBS software products. More than 60 NATO and NATO-friendly countries and over 300 integrators/prime contractors use VBS technology, many making significant funding commitments to extend VBS product capabilities.

BISim’s customers include the US Army, US Marine Corps, the UK MOD, Canadian Armed Forces, French Army, Bundeswehr, Swedish Armed Forces, Australian Defence Force, New Zealand Defence Force and many major system integrators.
