South Australian-based REDARC has announced the continuing partnership with Kongsberg Defence Australia will support export of the command and control consoles for the Naval Strike Missile (NSM) Coastal Defence System.
Building on the success of the delivery of critical components for the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS) air defence system under Project LAND 19 Phase 7B, REDARC Defence & Space has confirmed its continued partnership with Kongsberg Defence Australia.
This major export order represents a significant milestone for REDARC Defence & Space, highlighting its expanding international footprint and reinforcing its reputation as a trusted supplier in the global defence sector.
“We are extremely proud to contribute to Kongsberg Defence Australia’s success in securing this vital export contract,” said Scott Begbie, REDARC Defence & Space executive general manager.
The NSM Coastal Defence System (CDS) is a cutting-edge, ground-based solution designed for high-performance coastal defence. Its advanced net-centric architecture enables multiple simultaneous engagements and over-the-horizon targeting, delivering unparalleled situational awareness and precision.
These capabilities, combined with the Naval Strike Missile’s (NSM) sophisticated target recognition, create a highly effective and adaptable surface-to-surface missile system for modern and future operational demands.
The system is designed to seamlessly integrate with a nation’s existing weapons and command-and-control systems, extending the defended area and enhancing the overall combat effectiveness of the force.
Key Components of the NSM Coastal Defence System include:
- Fire Control Center (FCC): Provides advanced fire control and battle management command, control, communication, computers and information capabilities.
- Naval Strike Missile Launcher Fire Unit: A canister-protected platform housing the NSM missile.
- Sea surveillance and tracking radar (Optional): Customer-selectable for enhanced situational awareness.
The NSM missile itself offers a distinct advantage over traditional anti-ship cruise missiles. It is engineered to achieve a high probability of success, even in the complex and evolving naval threat environments of today and tomorrow.
“Our collaboration began with the delivery of critical components for the NASAMS Fire Distribution Centre, and this latest project underscores the trust Kongsberg places in REDARC’s Australian-made, high-quality and innovative products,” Begbie said.
Leveraging its advanced electronics manufacturing expertise, REDARC Defence & Space remains committed to delivering top-tier components for the NSM CDS consoles. This partnership not only strengthens Australia’s defence industry but also enhances the nation’s overall defence capabilities.
