A defence technology prime has recently opened a new high-tech collaboration space to facilitate innovation and collaboration among industry partners and will support major government customer programs.

Leidos Australia said the high-tech Leidos CONNECT space will be enhanced over the next seven years with continued investment from the company.
"We’ve committed to investing $12 million over the next seven years," said Leidos Australia managing director Christine Zeitz. "This gives our customers and partners a place to workshop their challenges and develop innovative new solutions."
Leidos CONNECT will facilitate collaboration with a range of major technology partners including Cisco, Intel, Microsoft, NetApp and VMware, as well as leading Australian subject matter experts and several prominent Australian universities.
Leidos president, defence and intelligence, Tim Reardon said the new facility is part of the company's key global business plans.
"Australia is an important part of the Leidos global business strategy and the ongoing investment in Leidos CONNECT is a reflection of that," Reardon said.
Minister for Defence Industry Christopher Pyne welcomed the launch of the facility, which is expected to create more than 20 jobs.
“The Leidos CONNECT collaboration space provides a networked environment that supports ICT, big data analytics, simulation, security, cyber and related capabilities which are of interest to Defence," Minister Pyne said.
“This is a great initiative to foster innovation and collaborative activity in a technology-rich shared environment.
“Such collaboration spaces are becoming the norm for enterprising companies and universities to come together and collaborate on resolving complex problems faced by Defence and other government agencies."
The launch of the facility comes just days after Leidos Australia signed a memorandum of understanding with Monash University to collaborate on research and development at the Monash Institute of Medical Engineering (MIME).
The company also signed another MoU with the University of New South Wales to collaborate on research into the development of force protection and biological security for the Australian Defence Force.
