Retired chief executive of the Australian Defence Material Organisation (DMO) Warren King has joined another defence prime as chair of its advisory board.

King joins the newly formed Northrop Grumman Australia advisory board, which will offer counsel on market dynamics and development strategies.
King has an extensive international defense background with over 35 years of experience in the defense sector, including 20 years of service with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), where he specialised in combat systems engineering and completed posts in the US and the UK. After serving in the RAN, King held a variety of senior managerial positions ranging from small Australian enterprises to large multinational corporations.
King was appointed CEO of the DMO (now the Defence Capability and Sustainment Group) in 2012, where he served until his retirement in 2015.
King earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of New South Wales. In 2015, he was awarded the US Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service, in recognition of his service and contribution to the success of the US-Australian alliance. King is also a member of Northrop Grumman’s international advisory board.
David Perry, corporate vice president and chief business development officer, Northrop Grumman, and president, Northrop Grumman International Trading, said King will bring a great understanding of the Australian defence industry.
"Warren King offers our Northrop Grumman Australia advisory board a deep understanding of Australian defence business and strategy that will significantly add to the breadth of experience of our Australian team," said Perry.
CEO of Northrop Grumman Australia Ian Irving added King's leadership experience will help guide the newly formed advisory board.
"I welcome Warren as the chair of our advisory board," said Irving. "He possesses a wealth of leadership, experience and expertise across technical disciplines and the Australian and international defence markets. Warren will add significant value as we continue to advance our presence in Australia."
King was also recently appointed as chairman of Navantia Australia's board.
