A former Royal Australian Navy member has joined Northrop Grumman Australia.

Mike Gallagher has taken up the role of strategy director and will oversee the business strategy of the organisation as it continues to expand.
Gallagher served in the RAN for 22 years, spending 17 of these in the submarine service where he commanded HMS Osiris on exchange with the Royal Navy, and brought HMAS Farncomb into service.
Since leaving the RAN in 1998, he has held senior executive positions in Raytheon Australia, Nautronix and L3 Oceania, where he was managing director.
"I am delighted to welcome Mike Gallagher to the Northrop Grumman Australia team," said Northrop Grumman Australia chief executive Ian Irving.
"His service with the RAN and experience in the Australian defence industry will be an enormous asset to our company as we continue to grow our Australian organisation."
The appointment comes two months after retired chief executive of the Australian Defence Material Organisation (DMO) Warren King joined Northrop Grumman Australia as chair of its advisory board.
Northrop Grumman Australia expanded its presence in Australia throughout 2017, signing an MOU with Flinders University to provide collaborative research and support of education and training programs for defence-related programs and awarding three $75,000 grants to support multi-year research projects of academics at Australian universities.
The company also secured a $223 million contract to improve the Australian Defence Force’s communication through a defence satellite ground station. Its US parent company also landed a $200 million contract for the through-life support of the Royal Australian Air Force C-27J Spartan Battlefield Airlifter fleet.
Northrop Grumman specialises in systems, products and solutions in autonomous systems, cyber, C4ISR, strike, and logistics and modernisation, and is working its way into the space industry, with the US company in the middle of an acquisition of space company Orbital ATK.
