Minister for Defence Marise Payne and her New Zealand counterpart Ron Mark have met for the annual Australia-New Zealand Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ANZDMM).

Minister Payne was accompanied on her visit to New Zealand by Australia's Secretary of Defence Greg Moriarty and Chief of Defence Force Air Chief Marshal Mark Binskin.
The Defence Minister said the focus of the talks looked at the two countries shared history in defence and opportunities to evaluate current co-operation and future collaboration.
"The ANZDMM will provide an opportunity to review our current co-operation and further strengthen our already close military ties," Minister Payne said.
"We will discuss a range of mutual security issues, including co-operation in the Middle East, and ways to deepen collaboration in support of security initiatives closer to home, including our mutual security assistance to the countries of the south Pacific."
The ministers also discussed respective plans for defence capability upgrades over the coming years.
Minister Payne also laid a wreath at Pukeahu National War Memorial Park to honour our shared Anzac military history and sacrifice.
