BMT began advertising for jobs on Defence Connect this year for the first time. The defence industry is renowned for attracting extremely hard-to-get applicants with expertise in areas such as naval architecture and asset management.
A BMT spokesman said, "These people are currently in high demand due to Australia’s expansion of the defence industry. There are just not enough of these people! Thanks to advertising on Defence Connect, we received more applicants than usual for our positions, but more importantly, these applicants were of a better fit and of a higher calibre than we usually receive through other sources.
"These applicants were more industry specific and at the level of expertise we were looking for. We also heard from more people we believe we would not have usually heard from. We are now committed to continually advertise for positions on Defence Connect as a first option to find the right people."
