Businesses must meet certain requirements when exporting controlled goods or technologies. These include military or commercial items that have a potential military end use or could be used in developing chemical, biological or nuclear weapons systems.
You can learn about these requirements at one of the upcoming Defence Export Control outreach events. The outreach events are for small to medium businesses that want to learn more about:
- export control regulations;
- export controls specific to defence industry or academic and research organisations; and
- the whole-of-government approach to Australia’s export landscape.
Outreach events are being held in:
- Brisbane 05 June 2018 – CLOSED
- Perth 24 July 2018 – register now
- Melbourne – details coming soon
- Adelaide – details coming soon
- Sydney – details coming soon
These goods and technologies include:
- Military items designed or adapted for military purposes or those that are inherently lethal, incapacitating or destructive; and
- Commercial items and technologies that may be used or adapted for use in a military program or contribute to the development and production of chemical, biological or nuclear weapons systems.
Australia's export control policies are in place to enable the export of defence and strategic goods where it is consistent with Australia's national interests and international obligations.
