Fifteen teams from schools in Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra and Newcastle took part in the first Code Quest competition, which was held at Lockheed Martin Australia’s state-of-the-art Endeavour Centre in Canberra.

A team from Melbourne’s Haileybury school won the inaugural programming competition. Code Quest is an annual computer programming competition where teams of two-three high school students each work together for 2.5 hours to solve problems by using JAVA, Python, VB.net, C, and/or C++ programming to complete the 'quest'.
The problem set consists of 15-20 challenging problems created by Lockheed Martin engineers and computer programmers.
Lockheed Martin Australia chief executive Vince Di Pietro AM, CSC commented, "Code Quest globally is in its seventh year. It’s a terrific thrill for us in Lockheed Martin Australia to bring the Code Quest to Australia for the first time and for so many high school students from around the country, including regional areas, to pursue this science, technology, engineering and maths based competition."
The 2018 Code Quest theme was 'A Generation Beyond', which focused on overcoming the challenges of a mission to Mars.
