The company has taken the first big step with Texas-based Systel, a leading designer and system integrator of both custom and commercial off the shelf rugged computers.
Holmwood Highgate will become the regional distributor of their systems.
Group executive director Wade Mellish said creating a world leading product for LAND 121 3B encouraged them to head down this path.
“We had been searching for some time to find a capability that we could bring to the Australian market that is relatively unique and can provide great value to a broad range of industries – Systel’s rugged computer systems ticks all of those boxes,” he said.
Holmwood Highgate is a third-generation family business recognised as Australia’s leading manufacturer of bulk liquid storage and transportation systems for fuel and water.
The company says it has already enjoyed success within Australia’s defence industry by being able to adapt and embrace innovative thinking.
With headquarters in Sugar Land, Texas and with 30 years of experience in providing complex and advanced computer technologies to military, oil and gas, and manufacturing enterprises worldwide, Systel’s capabilities span numerous platforms and includes some of the most advanced military vehicles for the US Department of Defense.
Systel founder and chief executive officer Vimal Kothari said Holmwood Highgate was the right distributor for the region.
“Wade and his team have been at the forefront of companies expanding their brand in the international market. Our companies connected at the Team Defence Australia stand at AUSA in Washington, DC and although we both had quite different capabilities, their clear desire to be innovative, forward looking and service-orientated was just like us. I knew we could work together.”
Mellish said to date the company has had great feedback from industry with respect to what gap Systel’s products and services can fill in Australia and the region.
“Showcasing some of this capability at Land Forces and gaining further feedback will help us then develop our investment plan to establishing a service centre which can provide genuine in-country content. It’s exciting times for us at Holmwood Highgate,” he said.
