Minister for Defence Christopher Pyne officially opened the Safran Electronics & Defense Australasia state-of-the-art workshop, saying, "This new facility is a vote of confidence in the defence industry and will let Safran better support the ADF."
Safran’s workforce has increased from 11 to 25 in just over a year and the company is projecting even further growth in the year to come.
Minister Pyne said that Safran already delivers and supports complex systems to a variety of ADF platforms including the Collins Class submarines and the MRH-90 and Tiger helicopters.
"Safran has developed apprenticeship programs covering mechanics, logistics and business management," Minister Pyne said.
Sydney-based Safran Electronics & Defense’s Australian activities were established in the 1990s. As a fully owned subsidiary of Safran Electronics & Defense, the company has complete access to Safran's OEM knowledge and global network to locally support its customers.
Safran Electronics & Defense Australasia delivers and maintains high performance equipment and solutions across a range of key ADF platforms, including:
- Inertial Navigation Systems on coastal minehunters (SIGMA 40);
