Australian Industry and Defence Network (AIDN) National has announced the appointment of its inaugural board of directors.

Angus Hutchinson, CEO of Thomas Global Systems; Julie Savage, owner of Cognesis Contractors; Bradley Skelton, managing director of Depth Industries; Kerryn Smith, CEO of AIDN-NT; and Lester Sutton, general manager of Jenkins Engineering Defence Systems have been appointed as the five directors.
The appointment of five Directors onto the AIDN National Board follows a range of reforms to the AIDN National structure announced in August 2018.
The Board of Directors will have the specific focus of guiding AIDN National in representing the interests of AIDN Chapters and their members, to ensure high levels of engagement and connection between Industry and Defence, Government, and collaborative partners in Australia and overseas.
"The rigorous nomination process drew a range of high quality applicants from all over Australia, and we are pleased to be able to appoint a strong group of talented and committed defence and industry professionals to the AIDN board," AIDN spokesperson Carl Quarterman said.
"In the near future, the directors will be appointing two independent advisers to add specific skill sets and perspectives to the AIDN board with the purpose of meeting the ongoing needs of Australian industry and ensuring AIDN remains best placed to represent those interests.”
The first board meeting will take place in February 2019, aligning with the ADM Congress and AIDN National Gala Dinner in Canberra on Tuesday, 13 February.
AIDN was established in 1995 and aims to help small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) do business in the defence industry. It is made up of state and territory chapters and has a combined membership of about 600 mostly SME companies.
