Minister for Defence Christopher Pyne has announced Bupa Health Services has been awarded the Australian Defence Force Health Services Contract.

From 1 July 2019, ADF members will receive their health services from Bupa, following Defence's decision to move on from Medibank Health Solutions.
The arrangements will see Bupa deliver a range of "primary and specialist health services at both on-base health facilities and through a comprehensive network of off-base service providers".
"Delivering health services to over 80,000 ADF members and reservists is a complex and important undertaking and after a rigorous procurement process, Bupa demonstrated it is able to deliver Defence’s requirements," Minister Pyne said.
"Under the new contract, ADF members will continue to receive the full scope of health services they currently receive. Defence remains committed to maintaining continuity of care in delivering high quality health services for ADF members."
Bupa chief executive Richard Bowden welcomed ADF's decision to task the company with "supporting the provision of end to end health care to Defence personnel".
"Bupa is delighted to have been selected to provide this service and we look forward to leveraging our network of care providers to deliver health outcomes for the ADF community," Bowden said.
"This complements the care we provide for more than 5 million Australians every day as both a health insurer and care provider through our dental, optical, audiology and medical assessment clinics."
Handover between Medibank and Bupa will take place over the next few months before the official commencement of the contract in July.
"Our first priority is ensuring the people and processes are in place to allow for an orderly transition and continued health care to ADF personnel," Bowden said.

Bupa will provide stakeholders with further information on the ADF health services contract and we look forward to a productive relationship."
Minister Pyne thanked Medibank for the service provided to ADF members under the existing contract.
