Serco Group has agreed to a $1.01 billion agreement to provide "essential defence support services" to Bupa Health Services for the provision of National Garrison Health Services (NGHS) to the Australian Defence Force.

The sub-contract will see Serco provide support services at over 50 ADF bases across the country, delivering "recruitment, on-boarding, training, workforce management and various other employee life cycle, account management and support functions".
“We are very excited to be supporting Bupa and the Australian Defence Force in delivering these essential services," Serco Group chief executive Rupert Soames said.
"Our solution draws upon Serco’s international experience and expertise in workforce management, and the contract brings together the deep skills we have in our citizen services business, the commitment to patient-centred outcomes in our health business, and the strong relationships and operational delivery we have demonstrated in our defence businesses.”
The agreement will see Serco responsible for over 1,000 staff that will help support the integrated health care system to over 80,000 ADF members and reservists.
The contract has up to four one-year extensions and begins on 1 July 2019.
The solution from Serco, which was developed "closely" with Bupa, is focused on a single workforce and HR management system, with a patient-centric partnership a focal point.
Serco said that its "end-to-end supplier system, automated reporting and advanced analytics will both reduce costs and support the improvement of the patient experience for Australian Defence personnel".
