Leading engineering support services organisation Babcock has launched the National Air Operations Cell in Adelaide and is looking to partner with the defence industry.

The National Air Operations Cell, or 'Ops Cell', is responsible for the forward planning and daily delivery of safe helicopter transport across Australia and into the oil and gas regions to the country's north-west.
CEO of Australasia for Babcock David Ruff said, "Babcock's new Regional Support Centre provides central support for over 750 team members located across Australia and New Zealand, working with customers from aerospace, defence, mining and construction, and emergency services sectors.
"Establishing our National Air Operations Cell in Adelaide has been an important step in implementing our strategy in Australasia."
Babcock provides the helicopters, resourcing of aircrew and maintenance of the aircraft to ensure compliant operations for each customer contract; centrally managed by the Ops Cell.
From 17 February, Babcock's offshore operations were brought in to be managed by the Ops Cell. They now support a total of 12 bases and 26 helicopters across Australia, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Managing director of the onshore and offshore aviation businesses John Boag said, "We are constantly forward planning to identify any potential crewing aircraft and maintenance issues before they happen.
"Our team covers both aircrew and engineering support, so that they can back up one another and mitigate risk."
