With the establishment of a Deployable ‘Life Support’ centre of excellence in Australia, GDS aims to become a sovereign capability and sustainment solution for military and humanitarian operations.
Laurie Koster, managing director of GDS, stated, "It has been a personal goal to ensure Australia has the ability to manufacture and support the full range of soft-walled shelters, field logistic and camp accessories in support of normal and CBRN operations.
"From multipurpose modular tent solutions to dedicated CBRN defence capabilities, Australia needs a dedicated sovereign manufacture and sustainment capability that can be relied upon by the ADF and the global region. GDS is excited to be able to offer this sovereign capability from our Nowra headquarters."
Olivier Meyer, director, i-4S, commented, "We are delighted to increase our international footprint into the Asia-Pacific region through our strategic agreement with GDS. The ability to have a dedicated facility for the production and support of our soft shelter range will ensure Australia and the region benefit from a responsive and proactive solution that can be tailored to the exact requirements of the end user."
The i-4S shelter system allows for the rapid deployment of soft shelters in challenging environmental conditions without the need to have supporting ladders and ancillary equipment. Tents can be deployed and pitched in as little as 15 minutes with as little as four personnel.
GDS is a solutions and service provider of deployable shelter and tent systems, air conditioning and generation in support of the Australian Defence Force, security services and defence forces within the south Pacific region.
