The Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) has farewelled Air Vice-Marshal Cath Roberts from her position as Head Aerospace Systems Division, as she moves into her new role as Head of Air Force Capability in Air Force Headquarters.

AVM Roberts had served as appointed Head Aerospace Systems Division since March 2016, and was responsible for acquiring and sustaining all of Air Force’s fixed wing assets.
This high-profile role saw AVM Roberts lead an ambitious agenda, with the Aerospace Systems Division (ASD) consisting of 908 people delivered over 94,000 flying hours and accelerated the evolution towards a fifth-generation Air Force in close partnership with industry.
This included the delivery of many aircraft including the achievement of EA18G Growler IOC, P-8A Poseidon and training systems IOC and materiel release two milestones, Falcon 7X SPA and the F-35A Joint Strike Fighter.
“Cath has been a great support and a strong leader in our organisation in the interests of the air capability, the personnel in her division, women in the Australian Defence Force and Australian Public Service, and our organisation at large," CASG Deputy Secretary Tony Fraser, AO, CSC, said.
“On behalf of all members of CASG, I wish Cath every success in her newly established appointment. We thank her for her service in CASG, and we thank her and her family for their distinguished service with us".
In her new position, AVM Roberts becomes the inaugural Head of Air Force Capability and is responsible for conceptualising and shaping the needs and future requirements of Air Force.
“I am very proud of how much capability we ‘got’ and how we continuously improved the way we managed our new and older aviation assets to assure that Air Force could serve the strategic defence needs of the Australian people," AVM Roberts said after leaving her old role.
“Serving the women and men of the Air Force has been a great privilege and one that I will never forget".
Greg Hoffmann has been promoted to Air Vice-Marshal and will take over as Head of ASD leading CASG’s work in support of a fifth-generation Air Force.
