South Australian-based Form Cut, a specialist industrial design and manufacturing company, has been recognised for its collaboration with SMEs, REDARC and IntelliParticle, to design and develop the new REDARC Thermal Enhancement Kit (RTSEK).

The DTC Teaming Award is a significant acknowledgement of the successes of collaboration between local partners. A world-first in commercial viability and agility, and a new capability for the Australian government, the RTSEK enables army personnel to successfully engage practice targets using remote SMArt 155 precision guided munitions.
Form Cut CEO and senior industrial designer Karl Falzon said, "REDARC and Form Cut have previously collaborated commercially. When REDARC identified a new product opportunity, they sought to team with us to develop a product that exceeded the expectations of the defence customer in terms of cost, time frame and innovation."
Form Cut contributed to the design, specification and production of thermal insulation components and the innovative development and application of conductive polymers, as well as assembling the final product.
Form Cut also designed and manufactured the finished product packaging, specifically designed to ship fragile items by road and off-road to the testing facility. Ongoing production is scheduled in the coming months and a new manufacturing facility will include the innovative CNC application of specialist coatings.
Falzon added, "The project provided the perfect opportunity for Form Cut to demonstrate the full scope of its capabilities, problem-solving approach and commercial acumen. I’d like to thank the teams at REDARC with Mike Hartas and IntelliParticle with Greg Hancock, as well as the Australian Army, Defence SA and the DTC for this recognition."
Established in 1999, Form Cut works to advise clients involved in the design and production of specialist gasket, sealing, shielding and packaging solutions in industries including defence, mining, space and medical.
Located in Lonsdale, South Australia, Form Cut collaborates internationally and competitively supplies products to all mainland states and capital cities, applying a philosophy of continuous improvement. In late 2020, Form Cut will establish a new clean-tech manufacturing facility for the semi-automated CNC manufacture and fabrication of entire products.
