NIOA has announced that Mark Donaldson VC has come on board its team as a strategic adviser.

The company said that the Donaldson's experience in the Australian Army will enable him to provide the company advice on various matters across land and joint domains in support of NIOA's major pursuits.
"Following an extended career in the Australian military, the Army veteran and Victoria Cross recipient is a perfect fit for NIOA, a 100 per cent Australian owned company and leading weapons and munitions supplier to the ADF," a release from NIOA said.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to be joining NIOA," Donaldson added.
“A truly sovereign Australian company, partnering with Defence to provide the best kit to the men and women of the ADF.”
Donaldson had a distinguished 15-year career in the Australian Army, which culminated in being awarded the Victoria Cross for Australia in 2009, and followed up the following year with being recognised as the Young Australian of the Year.
Donaldson was awarded the Victoria Cross following his bravery during a tour of Afghanistan, after being ambushed by a "numerically superior, entrenched and co-ordinated enemy".
Trooper Donaldson’s citation reads:
“For most conspicuous acts of gallantry in action in a circumstance of great peril in Afghanistan as part of the Special Operations Task Group during Operation SLIPPER, Uruzgan province, Afghanistan.”
