Defence Minister Linda Reynolds said the ADF contingent would perform roles in communications, logistics and force protection, building on the legacy of previous Australian rotations.
"These men and women are about to embark on an important mission in support of Australia’s continued commitment to maintaining security and stability in the region. As Minister for Defence, I am so proud of their efforts on behalf of all Australians," Minister Reynolds said.
"I also recognise the sacrifice that their families and friends make in supporting them. Defence would not be able to deploy and perform its duties if it weren’t for the support personnel receive from home."
Commander of the 1st Brigade, Brigadier Ash Collingburn DSM said the parade comes after intensive role specific pre-deployment training.
"Our personnel are always ready. Their training has provided them with the technical skills, resilience and adaptive mindsets required to succeed in their respective roles," BRIG Collingburn said.
"The bond between our Defence Force and the Australian people is a source of strength, and today’s parade has assured our people that they head overseas with the trust and support of their loved ones and the broader community."
Operation OKRA is the Australian Defence Force's contribution to the international effort to combat the Daesh (also known as ISIL) terrorist threat in Iraq and Syria. Australia's contribution is being closely co-ordinated with the Iraqi government, Gulf nations and a broad coalition of international partners.
About 300 ADF personnel are deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation OKRA. This includes personnel in the Australian/New Zealand-led Task Group Taji, the Special Operations Task Group and embedded personnel in the Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve.
