Defence Industry Minister Melissa Price said Defence was opening the submission process for the Australian Defence Sales Catalogue early as part of the Commonwealth government’s strategy to assist Australian small business.
"The catalogue showcases world-class Australian defence industry products and services, and is pivotal to the work of Australian Defence attaches across the globe," Minister Price said.
The role of the Australian Military Sales (AMS) team is to support Australian sovereign capability and military sales programs through the planning and execution of international government-to-government transfer of:
- Australian Defence Organisation materiel;
- Australian-origin sensitive technology; and
- Products and services of Australian defence industry.
Minister Price added, "It promotes quality Australian products and services to our foreign counterparts. I encourage small businesses which are involved with the defence sector to apply, as we are allowing more time for businesses to complete their applications."
AMS seeks expressions of interest from foreign governments for consideration for government-to-government transfers.
The Australian Defence Sales Catalogue showcases selected products and services from Australian defence industry and Australian Defence Force surplus equipment available for sale under government-to-government arrangements.
Minister Price said, "The Morrison government and Defence have been working hard to keep the wheels of defence industry turning throughout the COVID pandemic. The 2021 Australian Defence Sales Catalogue is aimed at boosting sales and business activity and is another way we are continuing our support for the sector."
The current edition of the catalogue includes leading-edge technologies, products and services from 170 Australian businesses, and this is expected to increase for the 2021 edition, as it has every year since inception.
The inaugural catalogue was launched on 16 February 2017 by the then minister for defence industry – now in its fifth year, the 2021 Catalogue will again showcase Australian defence industry’s innovative and leading edge products and services.
The catalogue continues to grow and it will again be expanded in 2021 to provide further opportunity to highlight selected products, technology, platforms and services that are available for export from Australia’s world-class defence industry sector.
This year’s edition also includes an exporting section to assist defence industry companies to maximise export opportunities, including a section on the Australian Defence Exports Office, Defence Export Controls, Centre for Defence Industry Capability, Team Defence Australia, Austrade and Export Finance Australia.
Submissions will remain open until 11:59pm AEDT on Sunday, 27 September 2020. Information on eligibility criteria and the process for the 2021 edition of the catalogue can be found on the Australian Military Sales website at: https://www.defence.gov.au/Export/australian-military-sales/
