Submissions for the catalogue have been extended by one week and will now close at 11:59pm AEST on Sunday, 4 October 2020 – the Australian Defence Sales Catalogue is currently in its fifth edition and contains products and services from 170 Australian businesses.
It is utilised by Australian Defence attachés across the globe to promote quality capability and services to our foreign partners – the primary aim of the catalogue is to support Australian businesses to export their defence products and services overseas.
The Australian Defence Sales Catalogue showcases selected products and services from Australian defence industry and Australian Defence Force surplus equipment available for sale under government-to-government arrangements.
The inaugural catalogue was launched on 16 February 2017 by the then minister for defence industry. Now in its fifth year, the 2021 catalogue will again showcase Australian defence industry’s innovative and leading-edge products and services.
The catalogue continues to grow and it will again be expanded in 2021 to provide further opportunity to highlight selected products, technology, platforms and services that are available for export from Australia’s world-class defence industry sector.
In order to be eligible, Australian defence businesses, products and services submitted for inclusion in the catalogue must meet the following criteria:
- You must be Australian company as defined in the Australian Defence Industry Capability Policy [mandatory].
- A minimum of 51 per cent of the product must be Australian content and/or Australian manufactured [mandatory].
- Your product must be export ready [mandatory]. Export ready is defined as:
- exportable within the next 12 months (products below a technical readiness level of 9 will not be considered); and
- capable of gaining a Defence Export Permit, should one be required, or demonstrate that the product or service does not need an export permit (by attaching Defence Export Controls correspondence advising there is no requirement).
- Your product or service has been or will be used by the ADF. Alternatively, Defence has or will be investing funds in the development of the technology, product or service [preferred but not mandatory].
- Your product or service falls under one of the ten Sovereign Industrial Capability Priorities (PDF) [preferred but not mandatory].
The Australian Defence Sales Catalogue is a key component of the government’s Defence Export Strategy, which builds upon the Australian government's defence industry policy by setting out a comprehensive system to plan, guide and measure defence export outcomes.
The government recognises that Australian industry cannot sustain itself on the needs of the Australian Defence Force alone. New markets and opportunities to diversify are required to help unlock the full potential of Australian defence industry to grow, innovate and support Defence’s future needs.
Exports will provide the Australian defence industry with greater certainty of future investment and support high-end manufacturing jobs for Australians for generations to come.
The strategic goal over the next decade to 2028 is to achieve greater export success to build a stronger, more sustainable and more globally competitive Australian defence industry to support Australia’s Defence capability needs.
