A key component of investing in defence capability is building the work force of the future, Raytheon Australia’s GradX program is a key part of the company’s commitment to building Australia’s sovereign defence industry capability.

Raytheon Australia is accepting applications for the second intake of their innovative and unique GradX program, which enables undergraduate university students to take their first steps into future careers in the Defence industry.

Now in its second year, the GradX program is open to students undertaking their last year of university in 2021, studying in a wide range of disciplines, including, engineering, program management, IT, finance, contract and supply chain management, and communications and marketing.

The initiative will select 10 students from universities across Australia. During their final year of study, participants will be assigned a senior Raytheon Australia mentor, receive a $5000 sign-on bonus and gain access to paid internships. Upon completion of their degree, participants will come on board in a guaranteed full-time graduate role.

Raytheon Australia Managing Director Michael Ward said the GradX program offers more than most traditional graduate program.

“Our company is focused on the future, and this program aims to motivate students to become future leaders while also being designed to suit each graduate’s career path uniquely,” said Ward.

“The GradX program is intended to attract the next generation of top talented minds to start a Raytheon Australia career. It benefits the graduates, our company, our nation and the entire defence ecosystem,” he said. “We seek passionate, collaborative students to work in a diverse and innovative team environment that will make a difference in this world and our rapidly evolving industry.”

One of GradX’s inaugural participants, aerospace engineering student Read Liston, said the interning opportunities and professional mentorship, combined with securing a graduate role before anyone else in his cohort “made the Raytheon Australia program unbeatable.”

“It has been a great experience, and I have learnt so much. I believe Raytheon Australia is offering one of the best graduate programs available in the market,” Liston said.

He explained that GradX students receive tailored professional guidance, gain a wide range of work experience, and have the opportunity to advance their individual technical and leadership skills.

“The ability to work on real programs like the LAND 19 Phase 7B program and be immersed in the technical field made this program rewarding,” Liston said.

Raytheon Australia is accepting applications for the 2021 GradX program now. Applications close 9 November 2020.
